When Squaresoft announced that it would be combining their Final Fantasy franchise characters with the wonderful world of Disney, many doubters shook their heads in disbelief. The concept of an action RPG mixed with Disney seemed like a ridiculous combination that would be suited towards children. That was until September 2002 when the original Kingdom Hearts was released, and wowed devoted Square followers across North America. Whether it was the strong will of Sora, the cast of characters from Final Fantasy and Disney, or the phenomenal soundtrack, magic was truly born. Since Kingdom Hearts, we’ve been given a quasi sequel hold-over in the form of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. An interesting Game Boy Advance take on the Kingdom Hearts world that would breach the stories of Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II. While that little cartridge would pack a ton of full motion video in, and the story would continue in two different ways, some gamers weren’t pleased with the card-based combat. Overall it just made people long even more for the PlayStation 2 follow up. E3 2005 was the first time Kingdom Hearts II would be playable with two levels, but the recent build at the Square Enix Party in Japan had much more polished versions of those two levels, as well as two more levels, and a trailer that would reveal a number of new and old characters that would appear in the highly anticipated full sequel – Kingdom Hearts II. If you didn’t play through Kingdom Hearts or Chain of Memories, (at least play through the first game, silly), the story is based around a 14-year-old boy named Sora, and his friends Riku, and Kairi. While we won’t spoil the first game, we can say that they meet their new nemesis Ansem, and the Heartless – dark beings who are attracted to Sora’s Keyblade. Throughout the game they meet a number of Disney characters, and team with them to save their home worlds from this growing threat. Not much is really known about the storyline in Kingdom Hearts II, outside of the fact that the events of the game take place after both Kingdom Hearts and Chain of Memories. Kingdom Hearts II reportedly will contain two and a half times the content of the original, which is quite impressive considering the original took around 20 – 40 hours depending on how involved you got with the side quests. You’ll still take active control of Sora, Mickey is still missing, and Ansem will make a return visit, as will the elusive Heartless. Namine, the keeper of Sora’s memories from Chain of Memories is back and still looks a whole lot like Kairi. And the younger, short-haired, Sora-ish character’s identity is still a mystery. How the both of these characters will play out in the story is still unknown, but it’s not looking like they’ll be providing help in your adventures. From what we’ve seen from the trailers, and with our demo play, the game looks to be slightly more mature and much darker in nature. The two main new areas we played were Disney’s castle, and Agrabah, yet all four levels seemed to have gotten completed upgrades since E3. Disney’s Castle was a sort of escort mission where you had to bring Minnie to the throne room while either wiping out enemies or evading them. If her health bar depletes fully, you’ll fail the mission. The throne room was filled to the brim with yellow bee-like robotic enemies that would swarm around both Sora and Minnie, making it extremely difficult to make it to the throne. In the demos we played, combat seems similar, but much more expansive. One of the biggest additions is a new ability called “drive mode”. Sora now has a drive meter that increases the more he attacks enemies, and when full, he can change into a new costume. In the demo it was the same as the E3 version, the red robe, or “brave” robe. We’re not sure if Square Enix altered the “absorbing other characters” formula they had in the E3 version, because in the E3 version you were absorbing Goofy into you – but in my demo Goofy wasn’t even in the level. But at any rate, while Sora was in drive mode he was faster, more nimble, and dual wielded keyblades. This gave the player the ability to slice and dice foes at a much quicker rate, but drive only lasts for a specific amount of time, so utilizing it at the proper moment is essential. There will also be an alternate blue robe which is supposed be the wisdom robe, but we’re not exactly sure yet how that will play out. Another attack addition is the linked combo attacks. You now can team up with another character and perform combo attacks. While some of these were only shown in the trailer, one we did get to try out was with Minnie. Once you were in close proximity of her, you could press triangle, and perform sort of a super move which blasted enemies away from her. In the case of this demo it was the real trick to allowing Minnie to traverse down the long hallway to get to the throne and complete the objective. You can also perform combo attacks with other characters in your party, and we witnessed some with Donald, Goofy, and Auron. The final new move is the context sensitive instant command function, in which at certain times you’ll see a triangle symbol appear either on an enemy or somewhere in the environment. In the Beauty in the Beast demo area, the boss spun around on top of a chandelier which would take out your entire party repeatedly. But, by pressing the triangle button when indicated, Sora leapt up in the air and grabbed onto the chandelier chain – giving him control of the spinning chandelier turning the tables on the boss character. One other area this was helpful with this boss was when it would grab hold of Sora. The boss would then throw Sora into one of the pillars in the room, and if timed correctly, by pressing the triangle, Sora would actually grab a hold of the pillar, flinging himself back at the boss and unleashing a devastating critical hit. We’re really looking forward to seeing more how this plays out in different areas of the game, and just from what we played it really added a much more immersive element into combat. Outside of the characters that we mentioned it’s looking like quite a bit of the cast from the first game will be returning. Obviously Donald and Goofy will play a big role, but we’ll also see returning cast members from Alladin, Beauty and the Beast, Chip and Dale, Hercules, and of course, Daisy and Minnie. Sephiroth and Cloud also return, but they’ll be in uber pimp Advent Children gear. Auron from Final Fantasy X will also join your party. We haven’t seen Tidus or Wakka yet, but we’re guessing they’ll be back as well. At E3 Square Enix announced and debuted Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from Pirates of the Caribbean, but we’ve also learned that Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) will also make appearances in the game. One of the big surprises revealed at the Square Enix party was a level based on Steamboat Willie, Walk Disney’s classic 1928 cartoon which ultimately debuted Mickey Mouse. The whole level is in black & white, and Mickey Mouse looks exactly like he did back in the day. What I would have liked to have seen was Sora given an old school transformation, yet he was just rendered in black & white as well. Hopefully Square Enix will really take that level to its fullest. While the evil Alex appeared in Chain of Memories, it’s looking like his cronies will be joining him in Kingdom Hearts II. Part of the order called simply the “XIII,” they’re armed with specific musical instruments. Alex is armed with his spikey red tambourines, Demyx rocks you out with his Guitar / Sitar, and Xaldin has some sort of bladed lance. Overall they look like some bad ass boy band, but who exactly the XIII are is unknown at this point, but we’re assuming they’re up to no good. Two areas of the game that really plagued the original were the gummi ship levels and the camera. Fortunately, both have been redone for the better. No gummi levels were playable, but from the footage shown, it’s looking like a much better shooter this time around with major love given to the visuals. Camera controls have been stripped from the shoulder buttons, and have now been mapped to the right stick which will make things a lot easier. It still needs work, but it is better. Fortunately, Square Enix still has time to tweak it to make any needed improvements. Overall, outside of all of the games at the Square Enix Party, Kingdom Hearts II shined the brightest. With plenty of new characters, combat system upgrades, fantastic visuals, this sequel should be on any Square Enix’s most desired list. To boot, Square Enix announced that they’ve re-enlisted the talents of Utada Hikaru to sing the theme song again, and while we didn’t hear it, we do know the song’s name: “Passion.” The only release date we were given at the event for Kingdom Hearts II was Winter for Japan, but we were informed recently that the US date shouldn’t follow far from its Japanese counterpart. Hopefully we’ll see the return of Sora and friends before the year’s end. "Article from Game Informer"

Retro Studios recently revealed a few details about Metroid Prime 3 to members of the Luminoth Temple website. The official Nintendo site is exclusive to invited members of My Nintendo.
In the Q & A, developers revealed that Phazon would be making a return, and that Prime 3 would complete a trilogy arc on the Revolution. As expected, they confirmed the game would run primarily in first-person when Samus is "in a suit." Retro also said Prime 3 would utilize the Revolution's still-mysterious controller.
We'll have more on Metroid Prime 3 as new details emerge.

It looks like the PlayStation 2 edition of Resident Evil 4 will arrive just in time for Halloween. Capcom has announced that the game will be available on October 25, 2005.

From the new trailer, which was 8:30, presented at the Square-Enix Party 2005, it's been confirmed that DiZ is using his powers to manipulate The Order into he wants and the fact is, he actually wants to take down The Order. It seems that DiZ is not the superior of The Order but DiZ is trying to gain followers such as King Mickey, Namine, Riku, and the BHK. In another note, it's quite possible that DiZ is Ansem's shell, due to the fact DiZ's voice resembles of Ansem's. At one point in the trailer, DiZ shows up where BHK and Axel are confronting each other and says "what he's saying is nonsense" and Axel seems to be very hostile towards DiZ. Also, DiZ says to an Unknown while they talk (Enigmatic man from Final Mix?) that 'Namine is controlling memories that link Sora to Sora.' Don't expect Sora to be the BHK's name but he was probably referenced as the 'the other Sora' on the 'other side'. Similar situation as to how DiZ has his own name but he is actually Ansem, but BHK isn't Sora's shell. Also, we learn more interesting things about Namine. Namine can read memories based on the fact that she can rearrange them. It's possible that Namine was the one who helped Riku out of the light. Whatever it is, she has learned of someone's true intentions or she is protecting the Nobody. In the trailer, there was also dialogue between DiZ and BHK at Castle Oblivion in which DiZ greets the BHK as the one "chosen by the keyblade." If you recall from other screenshots, BHK was using what seemed to be Sora's keyblade which could of possibly been passed on until Sora's awakening. It's not known how long the BHK will weild the blade and how Sora will get his own back. DiZ then tells the BHK that needs someone who can defeat the 13th Order. On another note, an unknown was seen with the Soul Eater, Riku's weapon, on top of the snow mountains, so begin making your assumptions now. Last but not least, it seems as if Riku and Sora have met face to face again and Riku says,"If this is the true world, we should let it be engulfed by the darkness." If you look at it deeply enough, Riku could be referring to Ansem's location of the "true paradise", but it makes you wonder if DiZ is using Riku to find this 'true paradise'. At this point, Sora & Riku know so different about darkness, and it seems as if Riku is working against Sora. In other news revealed from the trailer, Seifer from Final Fantasy VIII Fujin and Raijin from Final Fantasy VII are seen in the game. It was presumed that young Seifer was already seen in Twilight Town before, so chances are we may not witness the whole Seifer/Leon ordeal, but these 3 cast members are seen in Twilight Town. Lastly, Leon & Cloud become put in a predicament where they are surrounded by Nobodies and seem to be in very big trouble, as Cloud says he's almost done for with just one more blow. Also, Ariel appears in the trailer but it is not known if the Atlantica world will be returning. Demix was also confirmed to be the 9th member of The Order. As part of our Japan Extravaganza V 1.0, we talked to Hiroichi Tanaka, senior vice president of software development at Square Enix, about Final Fantasy XI for the Xbox 360. Find out why we should buy the game all over again, what’s new with the Xbox 360 version, and how FFXI is going to accomplish something that’s never been done before in the history of video games.
Me: How’s everything working with adapting Final Fantasy XI to the Xbox 360? Has it been a tricky process?
Hiroichi Tanaka: It’s quite easy because the Xbox 360 uses Direct X, so it really wasn’t that difficult to do because we have the Windows versions.
M: So is it basically a standard PC port then?
Tanaka: It uses most of the latest functions on the Xbox 360, not just the PC capabilities. But we wanted to expand the platform of Final Fantasy XI.
M: So will all the platforms be able to play together?
Tanaka: Yes.
M: Sony’s going to love that. That’s a first isn’t it then – two different competing platforms playing together.
Tanaka: Final Fantasy XI’s the first cross platform massively multiplayer game.
M: Right. But now this is cross console?
Tanaka: Yes, it is.
M: So with the Xbox 360 version you can use the headset?
Tanaka: You’ll be able to use the headset, and it’ll be possible to use the voice chat with other Xbox users.

I hate GPhoria. How can Resident Evil 4 not win any categories? I know why. Because people wont get up their poor fatasses and buy one of the best games of the generation. So they go and ask their anerexic slut mom for 50$ so they can buy crap like Halo 2 and God of War. 2 of the worse games ever madde in my opinion. Screw G4. They made me pissed. Back to other news.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Today it was confirmed that Peter Molyneux (Lionhead), creator of Black and White and Fable, will attend the GC Developer Conference. The event will take place from Tuesday (August 16th) to Thursday (August 18th) at Leipziger Fair Trade in Germany. Together with Molyneux professionals like Bill Roper (Flagship), Bruce Shelley (Ensemble), Julian Eggebrecht (Factor 5), Don Daglow (Stormfront), Guido Henkel (G3), Bob Bates (IDGA), Jochen Hamma (Fantastic-Realms) and David Freeman (Freeman Group) will share their knowledge during the 2.5 day program. Further information on the GC Developer Conference can be found at www.gcdc-germany.comMore news~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lunar: Dragon Song is the newest game in the Lunar series and is coming to your DS. Set 1000 years before the first game, Dragon Song will follow Jian, Lucia, Gabryel and a host of new characters in a world that was still divided. Prepare to face giant beast men and more in this new RPG that is slated for a September release. For more info, check out the brand new site for Lunar: Dragon Song at www.lunardragonsong.com~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In more surprising news Hong Kong Videogame Retailer Lik-Sang.com was recently informed that Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Limited and Sony Computer Entertainment Inc commenced legal actions against Lik-Sang.com in the High Court of Hong Kong for selling PSP consoles. Sony of Europe alleges that Lik-Sang.com has breached Sony's Trade Mark rights by offering the PSP for sale to customers in the UK, and seeks a court order that would prevent Lik-Sang.com from selling or offering systems, games and accessories to customers in the UK and the European Economic Area (EEA). Sony further claims copyright infringement and damages by mirroring the freely available PSP manual on the news section of Lik-Sang.com during early June. Sony UK warned Lik-Sang.com on June 14 to take legal actions, should the manual and any hypertext links to Sony's web site not be removed. Lik-Sang.com complied with Sony's request to remove the manual immediately. Hong Kong's legislation is based on the fact that allowing parallel and free trade will restore natural competition and benefit consumers with lower prices. Hong Kong, one of the pioneering countries respecting worldwide exhaustion of trademark rights, allows free trade once an item entered the market for sale. The company running Lik-Sang.com, Pacific Game Technology Limited, is fully registered and operating in Hong Kong and has no ties with the UK. "Lik-Sang's sales are an unlawful interference with Sony's economic interests", stated Sony's legal correspondence. The case relis on Sony's claim that Lik-Sang.com has advertised the PlayStation Portable products in a "dishonest manner". Lik-Sang.com will do its best to fight Sony's powers and appreciates any support from employees, friends and even customers. "This is the most aggressive move against its own customers that a console manufacturer has ever taken in the 30 year history of videogames", says Pascal Clarysse, Marketing Manager for Lik-Sang.com. "Sony wants to completely cut hardcore gamers away from items released in Japan or anywhere else outside their own country. A very active part of the gaming community has been enjoying Japanese gaming culture for over two decades, and that's what the Empire is now willing to destroy." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The PS2 version of Resident Evil 4 is looking every bit as good as its GameCube sibling. And with 480p, 16:9 widescreen, and Dolby Pro Logic II support it might even be slicker. Also, watch for a new weapon, the P.R.L. 412 (Plagas Removal Laser 412). Maybe now those idiots will buy Resident Evil 4 on the PS2 since they gave shit to Nintendo. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thats about all I have for now.
